Sandy Carroll — ‘Last Southern Belle’
Label: Catfood Records
If Sandy Carroll is the last Southern belle, then let’s organize a Kickstarter campaign to invent a time machine. If this album is an example, we could all use a whole lot more. Impractical? Maybe. In the meantime, I’ll settle for the repeat button on my CD player so I can hear these comfy, soothing light blues takes on things we all know to be true again and again.
Singer-songwriter Sandy Carroll sings songs that act as something of a tour guide through the journey of the female Americana experience. These are personal, musical diary entries that reveal universal hopes and fears. Her tunes take the time to properly reflect on matters that matter and she performs them with a directness that is refreshing.
Essential Downloads: “Last Southern Belle,” “Tattoo That I Can’t Undo,” “The Nothin’ In Your Eyes.”
