Following up on his last album, Four, blues singer-songwriter David Deacon returns with Good Day Good Night, a new collection of recordings that explore a range of emotions. The signature bluesy, gutsy guitar that plays so well in Deacon’s music sets the tone for the album with its lead single, “Soldiers of the Universe” – currently available on all streaming platforms. A common trait listeners will note in Deacon’s writing is that he rarely takes the direct route anywhere. He enjoys meandering down sideroads that provoke listeners to think about their own thoughts or experiences. Good Day Good Night is no exception.
From the lead track and first single, “Soldiers of the Universe,” to the anthemic “Moments of Joy” and rootsy focus track “And They All Sang Along,” David’s sound is distinct, his gravelly voice and delivery not unlike Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Joe Cocker or Robbie Robertson.
