New Jazz/Swing: Bowmanville — ‘Bowmanville’

Allow me to introduce you to Bowmanville. If you were one of the nearly hundred partygoers at my NYC apartment last weekend, you enjoyed their new album, Bowmanville, for hours. And if you were one of the many who asked who was on the turntable, this review is for you.

Bowmanville is a quintet (Mason Jiller, Graham Nelson, Oliver Horton, Noah Plotkin, and Ethan Adelsman) that can do it all. And they do it with ample flair. They have released an album that features original material as well as spirited renditions of a few standards. They create a dependable swing vibe, but they play with a distinct present mindedness, with each track coming across as gems, but in spectacular settings. Listen and enjoy.
