Tennis News: American Jenson Brooksby Wins US Clay Championship

American Jenson Brooksby was crowned the 2025 US Clay champion in Houston last Sunday. With this victory, he won his first ATP Tour title and competed in his fourth ATP Tour final, all on U.S. soil.

Match Highlights:
– Brooksby saved five match points throughout his seven wins this week, one in the qualifying opening round, three in the second round, and one in the semifinals. Since ATP began keeping match points saved records in 2015, Brooksby becomes the eighth player to have saved match points in multiple matches before winning the title.

Why Brooksby’s Victory Matters:
– Brooksby is the first American to win an ATP title in 2025 and the sixth US winner here in the last seven editions of the tournament.

And Another Thing…
– Brooksby is the first qualifier to become US Clay champion since Chilean Fernando Gonzalez in 2000.
– Brooksby, ranked No. 507 before the tournament, is the lowest ranked champion in US Clay Open Era history. He is projected to reach No. 172 in next week’s ATP rankings with the title under his belt. Congrats, Jenson!
