Allison August‘s new album, August Moon (released on March 21 by MoMojo Records), is some of the best company you could ask for. With August Moon, Allison August explores a range of theme: marriage, motherhood, resilience, and life as we actually live it. The album overflows with songs that cover zig-zagging emotional territory, but—in every case—they are also as comforting as hanging out with a longtime friend. Take the time to let Allison August’s clarity and enthusiasm heal whatever might be causing any insecurity or ambivalence. She fronts a band that steers a very definite path toward morning, and all of the optimism that comes with that.
Produced by Grammy-winner Tony Braunagel, the album features Allison’s powerful and agile vocals with extremely talented musicians such as Paul Barrere (guitar), Mike Finnigan (keyboards), Lenny Castro (percussion), Bob Glaub (bass), and Maxayn Lewis/Teresa James (backing vocals).
It is very likely that this highly agreeable collection of songs, interpreted by the innately trustworthy vocals of Allison August, will be on repeat at my pad until the summer’s August moons… and beyond.
