Basie Rocks! features Deborah Silver with the legendary Count Basie Orchestra. It is a marriage made in musical heaven. Add to this the perfectly chosen songlist (this unique album reimagines classic rock n’ roll hits from artists like The Beatles and Elton John) and you have one of the most exciting jazz albums out this spring. I was thrilled to receive a review copy of the CD, even after I had purchased my own downloads just days before. I saw this album in the lineup of new releases and didn’t want to take any chances. With luxurious arrangements of songs such as “Bennie and the Jets” and “Band On the Run,” I couldn’t wait.
