New Country: Dierks Bentley — ‘The Sessions (Live)’

Dierks Bentley’s four-song live release, The Sessions, features collaborations and classic country storytelling. The tracks are all strong, and balance each other to create a satisfying listening experience. They include a duet with Jordan Davis on “What Was I Thinkin’,” a cover of Keith Whitley’s “I’m No Stranger to the Rain,” Bentley’s own “Heartbreak Drinking Tour,” and a powerful live take of “Get Down On Your Knees and Pray” with The Band Loula.

If it’s been too long since you attended a live authentically country performance, this EP is going to please you. The focus here is on the live performance over studio production, and ultimately it is the music that reaps the reward.
