It took one song (“S-C-A-M”) for me to decide I couldn’t wait to hear a second song. It took the second song (“Sunday Stroller”) to convince me that this CD was going to stay in my player for quite a while. That was days ago, and I’ve been in a very productive, great mood in the meantime.
The Lucky Losers are releasing their sixth album, Arrival, on November 7th via MoMojo Records. Produced by Grammy-winner Kid Andersen, the San Francisco-based group led by Cathy Lemons and Phil Berkowitz presents 11 original tracks that span blues, soul, funk, R&B, and ’70s rock. Guest musicians include Danny Caron and Kid Andersen. Song highlights include “S-C-A-M,” “Sunday Stroller,” the resilient “I Believe Her (Because I Am Her),” and the soulful “Don’t Let It Slip Away.”
The album celebrates its varied influences (especially classic soul) by bringing playfulness to the genre. The result is an impressive album of highly original (and honest) songs full of expressiveness and style.
