Wednesday night, Steve Wynn and Wynn Resorts announced plans to build a massive entertainment district. The announcement was made the same night the T-Mobile Arena had their grand opening. It would be part of an expansion on approximately 130 acres that currently houses the Tom Fazio-designed Wynn Golf Club.
The golf course behind the Wynn and Encore casinos earns about $5 million before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, while the new park could bring in $300 million. Wynn told investors, “This is the most fun project in my 45 years.”
Visitors will be able to water ski, paddle board, take a dip or just take a stroll on the mile-long boardwalk. The resort, which is tentatively called “Wynn Paradise Park,” will offer ice cream and a fireworks show every night.
Shares of Wynn stock, which had gained 29 percent so far this year, rose 10 percent by Thursday’s open.
