As a composer, Jason Kush covers territory far beyond what might be expected from a featured soloist. He is not afraid to challenge himself when he hits the “record” button. This gives the entire album a gripping energy. Whether it’s the day after Thursday that centers this project, or something much larger — the post-pandemic age, perhaps — these tracks are a joyous release.
