New Jazz: Alan Chaubert — ‘Just The Three Of Us’

Just the Three of Us features the jazz stylings of Alan Chaubert, who masterfully plays both muted trumpet and piano simultaneously. It’s a continual musical coup de théâtre. Accompanied by Belden Bullock on bass, and Jon Di Fiore on drums, Chaubert highlights the beauty of nine outstanding compositions by renowned artists such as Charlie Haden, Bill Evans, Thelonious Monk, and Norah Jones. Percussionst Luis Quintero makes an impressive guest appearance on two of the album’s tracks. The highlight of the album is a vibrant take on Thelonious Monk’s “Well You Needn’t,” which features a buoyant exchange with drummer Di Fiore.
