Storyland (on Instant Replay/Fontana North Universal), is the latest release from Canadian-based vocalist Sherri Harding. The album blends soul, blues, and R&B, and delivers a thoroughly satisfying Canada-meets-Memphis listening experience. Harding invests every note with her soul, resulting in a collection of songs that immediately connect. Combined with the clear, heartfelt delivery is the material itself, which is equally as strong.
Track after track, Sherri Harding’s powerful voice rises with the impeccable musicians (including The Muscle Shoals Horns) that elevate her delivery even higher. There’s a big band aspiration at the foundation of this album, and it succeeds throughout. The songs are full of truth, the voice is honest, and the album deserves all of the attention it is destined to receive.
