“No Holding On Anymore,” is the first preview of the fourth album, Four (due early 2027 on Mule Kick Records) from Nashville husband-and-wife duo Goldpine, Benjamin and Kassie Wilson.
The pair have built a loyal following on tightly woven harmonies and emotionally honest songwriting, and this single arrives with a rollicking edge. Inspired by Benjamin’s realization that his parents once stood exactly where he does now, the song asks whether our instinct to cling to youth is worth holding on to at all.
At its heart, it’s a song about time: how it moves, how we resist it, and what we might gain by letting go. The steady beat at the opening is the ticking of time itself, something you can’t deny, but it doesn’t have to be unappealing. It all depends on how you look at it. For a song about something as sobering as aging, the interplay between the two voices is full of playful wit. Benjamin takes a verse, Kassie answers, and together they turn the song into a rollicking performance, carried as equal partners, which makes the subject feel a little less daunting to face.
The result is a thoroughly enjoyable listen. If this single is any indication, Four promises to be worth the wait. Its originality is already building anticipation.
