Thorbjorn Risager & The Black Tornado — Change My Game

Thorbjørn Risager, a Danish blues musician, is wonderfully framed by The Black Tornado. When the two meet it is heightened fusion of Southern soul and Chicago blues with the frontman and the band in perfect balance. The recent album, Change My Game, is a terrific showcase of their full and unique sound. Many bands spend years looking for theit own sound, but few ever truly find it. Thorbjorn Risager & The Black Tornado have definitely found it.

Sometimes breezing over the infectious groove of the world’s most agreeable chorus, other times embodying a soulfully decaying version of Nine Simone, Risager always projects ample atmosphere. With every note he sings, whether blues, rock, or funk, there is a sublime quality that makes the meaning of the song perfectly clear. Throughout the album, Risager and company take advantage of the tightly organized, highly effective arrangements.
