Brett Young — “Mercy”

On “Mercy,” Brett Young lays it all on the line:

OK, Mr. Young. How about showing a little mercy for your fans? We are ready for your next (second) album. You’ve earned it. Clearly, you have more to say and you have the vocal instrument that will no doubt keep impressing. We look forward to it.

“Mercy” is the fourth single from Young’s self-titled debut album. We hear he’s working on his next record, which will show more of his musical influences. From one listen of “Mercy,” it’s clear that those influences are soul and R&B. Young’s voice has the capacity to take a musical throwback while keeping it as contemporary as ever.
