Kevin Breit — Stella Bella Strada
Label: Stony Plain Records (release date: May 31, 2019)
The album cover says it all.
Playing guitar master Kevin Breit’s new album, Stella Bella Strada, will result in your own expression of mirth, from the relief at hearing something so original and of such quality. Call it blues, call it jazz, call it the sound of my fantasy of being an extra in a Felllini film, call it whatever you want. It is more imaginative and musically expansive for any existing label. It’s an all-too-unusual musical experience, and very welcome.
Kevin Breit, one of the most in-demand guitarists in North America, has taken a break from backing up the likes of Norah Jones, K.D. Lang, Serena Ryder, Celine Dion, and many others, and he has produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered a collection of unique songs that defy genre classification, and that demand and deserve attention.
“Stella Bella Strada” loosely translates to “beautiful star of the road.” It’s a name for Breit’s snazzy new guitar built by Joseph Yanuziello. It also perfectly captures the essence of this captivating album.
