The Nashville based blues duo Markey Blue Ric Latina Project will release their new album in April 2022. Titled Jumpin’ the Broom, it’s a collection of original material with which vocalist Markey Blue and guitarist Rick Latina make it clear that they are profoundly inspired by the Memphis sound.

My personal favorites are “Right Kind of Woman.” It, along with all of the songs on the album, was written by Ric Latina. “Right Kind of Woman” is a perfect synthesis of these two artist’s gifts. Alone, they are virtuosos, but combined, well, they become one. What more can one hope for in a duo?

The versatility on display in the variety of tracks here is impressive. Whether it’s vocal range, intuitive rhythmic choices, or sheer gutsy musicianship from every instrument, this album is a solid accomplishment. As usual, the blues in 2022 are still in amazing shape. Especially with the consistent music that Markey Blue Ric Latina Project creates and shares.
