New Jazz: Eldad Tarmu — ‘Tarmu Jazz Quartet’

Eldad Tarmu and friends have released a first-rate album that transports the listener to the nuanced and potent place where vibraphones converse with saxophones, while basses and drums keep the dialogue on topic. It is an always imaginative collection of tracks that bring faith to anyone wondering what the state of the art of jazz is these days.

Musicians featured on the album are: Eldad Tarmu (vibraphone), Adam Hutcheson (saxophone), Sam Bevan (bass), and Cengiz Baysal (drums). Their solos are impressive, but it is their interplay that is most exciting. Obviously, these cats enjoy sharing their craft, turning it into an exchange that exemplifies exactly what I was hoping for when I downloaded the tracks. Highly recommended.
