Country Music Hall of Famer Jimmy Fortune has put out an album that is a thoroughly satisfying listening exprience. There isn’t a track on it that you will want to skip; it’s all classics, all the time. And what better vocalist to tackle the variety of these songs (ranging from “Wake Up Little Susie” to “Southern Nights” to “Bridge Over Toubled Water”). With the easy-going vocals (which are the definition of smooth) Fortune massages every note, letting the emotion and the tone become one as they fly or float by. It’s really a tour-de-force from the former Statler Brother, and his talented tenor instrument justifies the challenging A-list choice of songs.

As an added bonus, the disc offers contributions from Ricky Skaggs, The Isaacs and Voices of Lee. The highlight of the album just might be “Take It To The Limit,” a collaboration between Fortune and The Isaacs.
